Happy 17th Birthday, ENJOY, AN URBAN GENERAL STORE.
We opened our first location at 4727 N. Lincoln Ave in Chicago during the event known as the Lincoln Square Sidewalk Sale in July 2005.
In 2008, we launched our eCommerce website, Urbangeneralstore.com (little did we know what that year would hold!) In October 2009, we relocated to ENJOY Lincoln Square's new home at 4723 N Lincoln Ave. We had three ENJOY Squared Holiday Pop-Ups (with 1000's of socks) at 4745 N. Lincoln Ave., 2324 W. Giddings Ave., and 4710 N. Lincoln Ave. In September 2019, we opened our second, permanent retail location, ENJOY Andersonville, in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood at 5307 N. Clark St.
In February 2020, we moved our Urban General Store HQ from W. Foster Ave. to a larger location at 5111 N. Lincoln Ave (again, what a year!)
Since 2005, we've had 3 ENJOY Squared Sock Pop-Ups, 3 ENJOY Babies, 10+ Halloween Shows featuring Laura Doherty, five (6?) COVID waves, many awesome ENJOYees, donated $1000's of dollars to Brave Space Alliance and the Friendship Center, donate $1000's more in gift cards to local organizations and fundraising events, participated in Midsommarfests, Wine Strolls, Small Business Saturdays, JOY of Clark Street, Apple Fests, and more.
It has been a wild, fun, funny, rewarding, challenging, inspiring, and gratifying seventeen years. We remain humbled that folks still ENJOY shopping with us after all these years.
